The Financial Conduct Authority on Monday launched its AI Input Zone, an online survey asking financial services stakeholders to share AI use cases, flag challenges, and identify where regulatory clarity would help. The survey closes on 19 June 2026.

The regulator said it will not introduce AI-specific rules. It will instead rely on existing frameworks, including the Consumer Duty, the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR), and its expectations on governance and controls.

The FCA said it is already speaking to firms about how they oversee AI, test models, monitor outcomes, ensure fair treatment for vulnerable customers and explain AI-driven decisions. It plans to publish good and poor practice on those topics later this year.

The AI Input Zone sits within the FCA’s broader AI Lab programme, which includes the Supercharged Sandbox, AI Live Testing, AI Spotlight, AI Sprint and an AI Small Firms engagement event. Applications for Supercharged Sandbox Cohort 2 are being considered, and AI Live Testing Cohort 2 has launched, with an evaluation report due in Q1 2027.

Running alongside this work, the independent Mills Review into the long-term impact of AI on retail financial services is due to publish this summer.
